The Circle walked casually

Is the title of an exhibition at Deutsche Bank Kunsthalle, which finished last sunday. It showed drawings of the Deutsche Bank Collection curated by the argentinian director of the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires Victoria Noorthoorn. Together with the brasilian set designer Daniela Thomas they chose a hanging other than on the wall. All drawings were hung on nylon strings describing a circle with curved lines. The drawings were really present in the room, it was quiet impressive.
The first artwork I saw when entering the room was a portrait of Sue Tilley, a big etching by Lucian Freud. Beautiful.
I had to smile when remembering that in 1996 I went to visit David in London, an old friend from Paris times. He invited me for dinner at his house. It was the evening if the UEFA cup Germany/England match in 1996. David was sharing an apartment with Sue Tilley at the time. All I remember is how we watched a football match together with Sue, this icon of Art History, she sitting on her couch, behind her this original etching on the wall!

Here are 2 pictures of the print in the exhibition. Also the front cover of my Lucian Freud book, showing Sue as well.
